ABOUT ANDRIY HALASHYN

Ukrainian born, but living and working in Costa Rica, Halashyn brings a cosmopolitan touch to his lushly dystopian paintings. With a biting sense of wit, striking color choices, and classical rendering, his ongoing series WAR AND FASHION combines the curated posturing of fashion shoots and juxtaposes them with images taken from the history of war and military culture. It is a display of human influence over itself, a meta-examination of how we perceive our own output in aesthetics and control.

In addition to winning awards in Ukraine and Costa Rica, Halashyn has had numerous solo and collective exhibitions around the world in Los Angeles, Miami, Switzerland, Ukraine, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Panama.

His work has been presented in major auction houses such as Philip De Pury and art fairs around the globe. In the last year alone, he has exhibited at the Los Angeles Art Show (Los Angeles), Arte Americas (Miami), Red Dot Art Fair (Miami), Arteahora Art Fair (Chicago), and the Hot Art Fair (Switzerland).
